FOUNDER PROFILE
RAI RYNALDO
Master Mariner (Class 1) & QHSE Marine Surveyor
The foundation of Rynaldo Marine is genuine, hands on maritime experience. Its founder, Rai Rynaldo, is a Master Mariner (Class 1, unlimited) and QHSE & Marine Surveyor whose career spans eight years of seagoing service on international passenger vessels rising from junior deck officer to Chief Officer and Safety Officer followed by worldwide marine survey and QHSE management practice.
His work covers vessel structure, machinery, accommodation, safety, and environmental systems, with a strong focus on verifying Class Status Reports (CSR), Conditions of Class (CoC), and statutory documentation across a wide range of ship types. He has built and implemented complete Company Management Systems (CMS) and QHSE frameworks aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, the ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, MLC, and ISPS the same disciplined, evidence-based standard that now defines Rynaldo Marine.
The journey below traces that path – from the deck to independent marine survey.

Establishing Rynaldo Marine
In 2026, Rai Rynaldo established PT. Rynaldo Marinea Indonesia (Rynaldo Marine) as an independent marine survey and inspection company based at Tanjung Priok. The company was built on a fully documented Company Management System (CMS) aligned with ISO 9001, applying the same QHSE discipline, evidence-based reporting, and impartiality standards developed across an international career. Rynaldo Marine serves shipowners, operators, charterers, traders, cargo interests, insurers, and P&I interests worldwide offering draft, bunker, cargo, condition, on-hire/off-hire, and vetting-oriented surveys grounded in real seagoing expertise.

QHSE & Marine Surveyor - GCC / Middle East
Engaged as QHSE & Marine Surveyor in the GCC / Middle East region, Rai built and developed a complete Company Management System (CMS) for maritime survey operations – covering survey procedures, document control, report quality, risk assessment/JSA, NCR and corrective action, training matrix, KPI monitoring, and continual improvement. QHSE documentation was maintained with reference to ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, the ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, MLC, ISPS, and Class, Flag, and Port requirements. Responsibilities included HSE risk management for vessel attendance, cargo hold inspection, enclosed space awareness, engine room inspection, and boarding arrangements, alongside quality assurance of survey reports for technical accuracy, evidence consistency, and client compliance.

Worldwide Marine Survey Practice
Operating on a worldwide basis, Rai conducted vessel condition, pre-purchase, and vetting-oriented surveys across a wide range of ship types. Work included verifying and cross-checking statutory and supporting documentation – Class Status Report (CSR), Condition of Class (CoC), CSSC/PSSC, SEC, IOPP, IAPP, ISPP, IEEC, EEDI/EEXI, DSC, SEEMP, NOx Technical File, SMS, PMS, DOC/SMC, Load Line, IHM, and ME/AE performance and UTM reports. Main Engine performance was evaluated through load percentage, Pcomp, Pmax, and scavenge and exhaust temperature balance using Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) data, while Auxiliary Engines, OWS, and boiler systems were inspected for operational readiness. Environmental assessment covered EGCS performance, HSFO carriage compliance, 15ppm OCM calibration, SOPEP inventory, BWTS/BWMS and D-2 compliance, VGP, ODS log, ECA change-over records, IMO 2020 Sulphur Cap, and CII performance – in accordance with IACS and MARPOL standards.

Fleet Operations & HSE Manager
As Fleet Operations & HSE Manager, Rai coordinated vessel schedules, port calls, and crew performance while embedding strong HSE practices across all shipboard activities. He implemented the PDCA cycle across fleet-wide safety management, established clear HSE roles and responsibilities from Master and Chief Engineer down to junior officers, and led emergency drills, audits, and investigations in collaboration with Masters and Safety Officers. Structured risk assessment, permit-to-work controls for high-risk activities, and emergency procedures covering fire, oil spill, and medical incidents were developed and maintained to ensure preparedness and coordinated crew response across the fleet.

Safety Officer & Senior Deck Officer - Worldwide
Serving aboard international passenger vessels trading worldwide, Rai held the roles of Safety Officer and deck officer. As Safety Officer, he developed and updated Emergency Response Plans, ensured implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS), and supervised the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) for firefighting and life-saving appliances for a vessel community exceeding 1,200 crew. He passed Port State Control inspections from the USCG, AMSA, and MCA, together with multiple ISM and Class audits across global ports and Flag State regimes. Duties included ISPS security as Ship Security Officer, fire, oil-spill and man-overboard drills, E-STOP monitoring for critical machinery, crowd management, and compliance with the Passenger Operations Manual (POM). Systems operated included ECDIS NACOS Platinum, GMDSS, AMOS PMS, ADONIS/PAL HR, NAPA Stability, and Kongsberg DP.

Chief Officer & Second Officer - Passenger Vessels Worldwide
Advancing into senior deck ranks, Rai served as Chief Officer and Second Officer aboard passenger vessels. He applied Bridge Resource Management (BRM) principles during navigational operations, including emergency scenarios and restricted visibility, and maintained compliance with MARPOL Annexes, potable water, food hygiene, and Ballast Water regulations. He monitored oily water separator (OWS) usage in line with MARPOL Annex I, SEEMP, and SOPEP requirements, and oversaw HSE drills for fire, oil spill, man overboard, and security breach in line with NEBOSH- and IOSH-aligned standards. This period consolidated his capability in onboard risk assessment, emergency preparedness, and high-standard operational judgment.

Early Career - Cargo Operations & Deck Watchkeeping Worldwide
Rai’s seagoing career began in cargo operations, where he built the practical seamanship that underpins his survey work today. He supported loading and discharging operations in line with cargo securing standards and Ro-Ro ramp safety procedures, participated in daily toolbox meetings and hazard reporting, and monitored PPE compliance during deck operations. His duties covered navigational watchkeeping, vehicle securing, ballast adjustment, and stability monitoring, alongside maintaining the deck logbook, oil record book, and voyage plans in compliance with MARPOL and SOLAS. He documented bunkering operations and fuel transfers while monitoring oil-spill prevention, and carried out lifeboat and liferaft inspection routines. This grounding across Indonesia, China, Singapore, and Malaysia trading areas gave him a working understanding of ships and cargo from the deck up.
